Saskatoon’s Steve Laycock won his only game of the day on Tuesday at the Canadian Olympic men’s curling trials in Ottawa.

Laycock scored three in the ninth end to beat 2014 Olympic gold medalist Brad Jacobs 8-6 in their Tuesday afternoon draw. That victory ran Laycock’s record to 2-3, and dropped Jacobs to 2-2.

Laycock plays once Wednesday — he’ll take on Mike McEwen (currently 3-1) in the morning draw.

Laycock opened the trials with 6-3 and 8-6 losses to Kevin Koe and Brendan Bottcher respectively, before beating John Epping 7-4 and losing 9-5 to Reid Carruthers.
